Post-Surgery Rehab

Post-Surgery Physical Therapy in DC & Bethesda

Structured post-operative physical therapy for orthopedic and spine surgery — coordinated with your surgeon's protocol from day one.

What is post-surgery rehab?

Recovery from surgery is the most important — and most often under-prioritized — phase of care. We coordinate directly with your surgeon's protocol, manage early-phase swelling and pain, restore range of motion safely, and build the strength you need to get back to life. Whether it's an ACL reconstruction or a microdiscectomy, the right rehab plan turns a surgical fix into long-term recovery.

Common conditions we treat

  • ACL, MCL, and meniscus repair or reconstruction
  • Rotator cuff repair
  • Labral repair (shoulder, hip)
  • Microdiscectomy and laminectomy (spine)
  • Spinal fusion
  • Achilles tendon repair
  • Bunion and foot/ankle surgery
  • Hand and wrist surgery

What to expect

  1. Pre-surgical (pre-hab) visits when possible — stronger going in means faster recovery coming out
  2. Early-phase: swelling and pain control, gentle range of motion, gait re-training if needed
  3. Mid-phase: strength rebuilding, neuromuscular control, coordination with your surgeon's milestones
  4. Late-phase: return-to-activity testing and progression — sport, work, or daily life
