Who in-home PT is for
In-home physical therapy is the right fit when leaving the house is hard, when transportation is a barrier, or when you simply value the convenience of care in your own space. Common situations:
- Recovering from total joint replacement (knee, hip, shoulder) — those first weeks when driving isn't realistic
- Post-surgical rehab when you can't bear weight or drive
- Older adults working on balance, strength, and fall prevention in the environment where falls happen
- Busy professionals who can't carve out clinic time
- New parents recovering after delivery
- Anyone who'd rather train in their own space

What an in-home visit looks like
- Your PT arrives on time with everything they need (treatment table, hands-on tools, exercise equipment if needed)
- Evaluation in your space — we assess movement in the environment where you actually live, including stairs, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen
- Hands-on treatment — same techniques as the clinic: manual therapy, dry needling (where indicated), exercise progression
- Home program — exercises tailored to what you have at home, not generic photocopies
Insurance and payment
In-home visits are covered by most major insurance plans, including:
- Medicare (Part B covers in-home outpatient PT)
- CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
- Aetna
- UnitedHealthcare
- Tricare
- Self-pay (we'll quote you the rate up front)
Coverage for in-home visits varies more than clinic visits — call (202) 964-0323 and we'll verify your specific plan before scheduling.
